Hi! My name is Yee-Lum (she/her), and I’m a certified firearms instructor in Lawrence and Kansas City.

I’m passionate about providing friendly, positive, and down-to-earth instruction that meets you where you are, especially for beginner shooters and folks who may not always see themselves well-represented in the firearms world.

As a gay Asian-American woman, I’m particularly committed to welcoming Black, Indigenous, Asian and Pacific Islander, Latino, and Middle Eastern people and queer and trans people to gun safety and shooting as a practical and sporting skill.

Basic Handgun ($75)

This 2-hour, small-group class introduces beginners to handgun safety, controls, and operation. We’ll begin with learning in the classroom, then move to the range for live practice once everyone can do so safely.

Nothing required.

Please feel free to bring a handgun if you have your own, or ask me for a free loaner! I also have ear and eye protection to borrow. Ammunition not included.

Class dates vary from month to month, but are usually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.

All classes below run from 5pm-7pm.

Concealed Carry ($120)

This 8-hour class on the legal and practical considerations of concealed carry meets the Kansas Attorney General’s standards and allows you to apply for your Concealed Carry Handgun License.

This isn’t a beginner class, since attendees must have familiarity with handguns and be able to pass the state-mandated shooting test.

  • Kansas driver’s license or state ID (must be current and valid)
  • Handgun
  • At least 50 rounds of ammunition
  • Ear and eye protection

This class takes place about once every 2-3 months.
